PANEL 1: The sun rises behind tall mountains. A snowy field reflects the morning rays, where we see The Machito parked, deep in the snow. A trench made by the crew members snakes its way from the extended walkway up a small hill in the foreground.
ORLA (from inside the ship): Morning, Captain! How are you today?
CAPTAIN (from inside the ship): MELANCHOLY, if I’m being honest. The ship is too dang quiet.

PANEL 2: ORLA sits at a control consol.
ORLA: It IS quiet! Cuddle took Skitter, Nando, and the Vehari into town for shore leave. And all the Rhinn front eh Gannath cruiser have left for their new housing.

PANEL 3: A continuation of the same scene, the CAPTAIN stands talking to ORLA, holding a steaming mug of coffee.
CAPTAIN: Yeah. But what’s really getting me is walking by CAPH’S EMPTY BUNK.

PANEL 4: Closer in on ORLA as she is chipper.
ORLA: I get it. I already miss his booming footsteps! But he’s a good kid…and he’ll do better around other Grasskans.

PANEL 5: Close up on THE CAPTAIN. She is sad.
CAPTAIN: HE WILL. And Captain Till already messaged me, saying she has a job lined up for him, AND a bio-mech hand when he’s ready.

PANEL 6: ORLA, with arms spread wide in cheery excitement.
ORLA: Lovely! See, he’ll be fine.

PANEL 7: ORLA’s vibe is a little harshed as the CAPTAIN turns away, in her sadness. The steam of her coffee rises against a darker background.
CAPTAIN: I guess I just feel like…an empty-nester every time I realize he’s gone.

PANEL 8: ORLA puts a hand on the CAPTAIN’s back. The CAPTAIN takes a sip of her coffee, a slight smile spreads across her face and the background warms to a brighter color.
ORLA: Our little baby has gone out into the world!
CAPTAIN: Our little 250 Kilogram tank-baby.
