PANEL 1: The Spark of Thought getting pummeled with m-waves in space. GRUN, from inside the ship: “S’rrender?” I aint here for no treaty, Emp’ror. I’m here for a FUNERAL. PANEL 2: Close up on the Emperor, underlit, terrified, eyes wide as he looks over his shoulder. EMPEROR: But I yield! I give you everything! PANEL 3: The Emperor yells in the foreground as the Tesskan who has been trying to get through the doors in the background finally makes it though. EMPEROR: I surrender for Madrid! TESSKAN: Fear’s runnin’ thick on you, little man. PANEL 4: The Tesskan steps through the hole he made, with another tesskan seen behind him. TESSKAN: …But it ain’t lyin’. Yer down to yer last few breaths. PANEL 5 and 6: Two panels are the same scene, split down the middle of the Emperor’s face. He grips the edges of a computer terminal that is throwing light on his face. Behind him the large Tesskan unsheeths his claws with a “SHINK,” CAPTAIN, over intercom: Sire, hang on! We’re six minutes out! EMPEROR: CAPTAIN…? THey’d cut out the heart of our Empire. FOR MADRID I’D SURRENDER. TESSKAN: You read t’ die, boy? PANEL 6: The Emperor’s hand is scene on the terminal screen, sliding a button up to the point where an exclamation mark in a triangle gives a warning. EMPEROR (in Spanish): “…de Madrid al cielo, y en el cielo, un agujerito para verlo.” PANEL 7: The back of the Emperor’s ship, La Invencible shows the nacels charging up their power. The ships’ ring is obliterated. EMPEROR (from inside the ship): For Madrid, Tio CAPTAIN (from the Machito, via intercom): SIRE, WHAT ARE YOU DOING? PANEL 8: The Emperor’s head, bags under his eyes, stands terrified but calm. A blast of white begins to engulf his form. EMPEROR REMEMBER ME, CAPTAIN. Remember me as someone who always— PANEL 9: A splash page of a terrific collision. La Invencible blasts into the wing and side of The Spark of Thought. A large THOOOOOOOOM stretches across the panel, shrapnel and explosions flies out. —— Want to read the full story?
