PANEL 1:
Location: The Spreading Fire
KIK, the lizard-lie alien, sits at a table reading from a clear tablet, hand on his head. His bird leans over, seemingly reading along with him
KIK: I guess Ahmis was right, Buddy. The Circle’s End DOES kinda sing.

PANEL 2: From outside their ship, we see the ship zooming through the stars.
KIK (from inside): Or at least, these Continuum books sez it’s so. They say it uses the harmonies of a naked singularity to “sing a new song to the universe.”

PANEL 4: KIK stretches his arms out as he continues.
KIK: And as it sings, the waltz-like rhythm of a fractional quantum hall state forms. And all the chaotic dancers of the cosmic plenum begin to swirl…TOGETHER!

PANEL 5: KIK bends over, pulling his hands together.
KIK: What was once a crowded dance floor, where everyone was bumpin’ into each other, becomes perfect synchronicity! A swirling ballroom of dancers perfectly aligned, and at perfect Planck-scale densities

PANEL 6: KIK swirls his finger in the air.
KIK: And as them dancers whirl around the ballroom, faster and faster, they become more stable, more topologically protected! Their dance is irresistible! Every onlooker is intoxicated by their energy! Their entanglement!

PANEL 7: KIK brings his fingers to touch close to his face.
KIK: And the internal curvature of the dance creates a collective quantum geometry! And in that moment ONLY THE DANCE MATTERS. All quantum information, all spacetime, warps to match the dancers flow!

PANEL 8: KIK puts the tablet down to talk directly to his bird.
KIK: Or…at least… that’s what the book says?

PANEL 9: KIK slumps over with his fists on his chin. The bird looks down at him. Behind them, the door is open to a bright hallways. AHMIS stands int he door way, backlit, with a sweet smile on his face.
KIK: I dunno, Buddy. MEBBE I DON’T GET IT YET.

Quick bit of fun news!

hey neat!

…DRIVE just got nominated for “Best Long Form Story” in the National Cartoonist Society Awards!

And to make things even more fun: It’s up against two cartoonists who I’d be proud to lose to! So that’ll make for a fun night in Jersey City!

I think I’ll make a trip of it with my pal Brad Guigar….so! That means I’ll probably do my first east-coast signing in 15 years! Would any NYC/Jersey/Connecticut/Pennsylvania folks come out, if I did that?* More info to come as we get closer to the Sept 7th Awards night!

*You can let me know over on the Patreon chats, or email me at [email protected]

International pals: ACT 3 now w/ better shipping!

ACT 3 just got added to Amazon (link). This is good news if you’re outside the U.S., as this might be the cheapest way to get the book shipped to you. Aaaaand, it just so happens they have it on sale at the moment, 47%-off! So this is a good time to snag it. (The artist makes the same whether on sale, or normal price, btw.)

ACT 3 hardcover on sale on Amazon (47%-off, as of 2/14/23)

ACT 3 softcover on sale on Amazon (34%-off, as of 2/14/23)

ACT 2 hardcover on sale on Amazon (23%-off, as of 2/14/23)
