LOCATION: Plaza de las Ventas, Madrid PANEL 1: An ornate facade of the famous bull fighting arena stands at night, lights glowing from the windows. From inside: Cousins! COUSINS! If you could settle, please. PANEL 2: From behind the speakers’ shoulder at a podium, we see a crowd of Familia. SPEAKER: For those I haven’t met, I’m José Cruz, recently installed CORREGIDOR DE MADRID. PANEL 3: JOSÉ closes his eyes and holds his hand to his chest as he continues. JOSÉ: And as Corregidor, I will be presiding over this week’s council. PANEL 4: The panel shows the crowd with the stage with a guard on it. JOSÉ (off panel): As is custom, all existing treaty negotiations, declarations, and ratifications have been paused, while we await the new Emperor. PANEL 5: A continuation of the scene, JOSÉ at the podium under two spotlights. Flags with the FAMILIA insignia hang behind him. Light from the spotlights reflect on the front row of Familia. JOSÉ: All Imperial printing, minting, and Royal works have been halted. “Sin Novedad” — nothing new shall be introduced. PANEL 6: The other side of the stage, guard, and familiar watching JOSÉ. JOSÉ (off panel): And, under the principle of “Familia innocence until proven guilty”.. Fourteen cousins awaiting trial have been granted temporary stays during this interregnum, to assemble peaceably, here. PANEL 7: Close up on JOSÉ, hands on the podium. JOSÉ: This includes… the so-called “Los Tres Primos”— Sound effect interrupted: BOOOOOO PANEL 8: A chorus of BOO! BOO! BOO! BOOOOOO visualizes over the backs of some audience members. In the audience we see LOS TRES PRIMOS - a squat one, clapping; the thin one, smiling; and the large one, looking around entertained. SQUAT PRIMO: Easy cousins! We have a week ahead of us!
