PANEL 1: Location: TIERRA Description: A fleet of ships in silhouette speed toward the viewer, streaks of stars indicate FTL flight.\ NARRATION: It is of historical note that the Nyx built exactly 72 ships for their new fleet. This was not an accident. In. Nyxian mathematics, 72 carries a quasi-numinous weight. PANEL 2: The NYX ships speed from left to right, 4 ships indicating a large fleet. Stars streak behind them as they continue in FTL flight. NARRATION: They chose 72 because it reflects the internal harmonics of an eight-dimensional structure. PANEL 3: Close up on one ship, angled toward the viewer, stars streaking behind them. NARRATION: They chose 72 because it counts every rotation of an ideal form that preserves identity. They chose 72 because it arises naturally in the mathematics of continuous symmtry. PANEL 4: 14 of the 72 ships are shown, no longer in flight, all firing M-waves from their cannons at one target (off panel). NARRATION: And so it was that 72 Nyxian ships unpinched space just past the Lagrance Point for Tierra. And fired 72 next-generation M-Wave cannons. PANEL 5: Close up on the ring of La Invencible being rained down with M-waves. NARRATION: Which struck presicely at 72 points around a Class-9 Super Heavy Ring. PANEL 6: A full view of La Invencible, it’s ring completely blown to bits. Shadows of other hits around the entire ship. NARRATION: Which meant La Invencible would never again pinch space. ——— Want to read the full story?
