PANEL 1:
NARRATION: Saseet
We return to CAPTAIN TILL’s table where CAPH the grasskan, ORLA, CUDDOW, NANDO and SKITTER are seated. It is snowing outside, and a chandelier of glass balls hang above their head.
TILL: Caph. You haven’t answered my question. WHY WERE YOU FOUND ALONE IN SPACE?
CAPH: Because I…I abandoned my post.

PANEL 2: Close up on CAPH, the young male grasskan, as he begins to tear up.
CAPH: The Empress was dead. The Princesses were dead. And my entire ship was about to commit suicide by nightfall. It felt like the whole Empire had just…decided to die.

PANEL 3: CAPH, getting honest and upset, sears up more as he continues.
CAPH: BUT I DIDN’T WANT TO DIE! I felt like my life was just getting started at seventeen.

PANEL 4: Close up on CAPTAIN TILL as she thinks about Cash’s response. No text.

PANEL 5: CAPTAIN TILL frowns, thinking more. No text.

PANEL 6: CAPTAIN TILL speaks, sternly.
TILL: To abandon one’s post is a serious matter, Caph. I can’t overlook it.

PANEL 7: CAPTAIN TILL clenches her eyes shut, thinking harder. No text.

PANEL 8: CAPTAIN TILL relaxes a little, eyes still closed. No text.

PANEL 9: CAPTAIN TILL, in silhouette, continues.
TILL: But I do not find you guilty of DESERTION. It could be argued that your command abandoned YOU…rather than the reverse.

PANEL 10: A view of the table, again, as the crew reacts to TILL’s seemingly harsh words. CUDDOW squints, NANDO looks askance at TILL.
TILL: Instead, I find you ABSENT WITHOUT LEAVE. The penalty of which is forfeiture of all pay, and a reduction in rank.

PANEL 11: Close up on CAPTAIN TILL, who smiles softly.
CAPH (off-panel): But I’m a draft cadet! What rank could I even be reduced to?
TILL: Perhaps…a free citizen of Saseet.
