PANEL 1: The CAPTAIN and ORLA huddle by a computer terminal, reacting to the m-wave blasts outside. NARRATION: THE MACHITO CAPTAIN: EESH! Status report, Orla! ORLA: M-Wave fire, Captain! Everywhere! PANEL 2: From space, behind the MACHITO, we see a sliver of earth with m-wave blasts flying past them. The Spark of Thought hovers in the distance, taking on an array of blasts coming from Earth. ORLA (from inside the ship): Tierra’s defense phalanx is firing at full burn. There’s an unknown fleet to port. And a Continuum capital ship to starboard. It’s…good Lord…IT’S ENORMOUS. PANEL 3: Close up on the CAPTAIN, putting her finger to her ear as she receives a transmission. TRANSMISSION: Scout ship, come in! This is La Invincible calling on emergency shortwave! CAPTAIN: This is the Machito, Invencible. What’s your status?\ PANEL 4: We see the EMPEROR in La Invencible, eyes wide, arm shaking as he holds a gun to the Tesskan arm bursting through the doors. EMPEROR: Taneel? Is taht you? Oh thank god! You’ve got to save me! CAPTAIN, via transmission: EMPEROR?!? PANEL 5: Close up on the CAPTAIN. EMPEROR, via transmission: THEY’RE-COMING-FOR-ME-TANELL-THEY’RE-ABOUT-TO-BREAK-DOWN-THE-DOOR-I CAN’T-STOP-THEM CAPTAIN: What? Slow down sire. I don’t understand. PANEL 6: The CAPTAIN points as she yells direction. SKITTER floats in his chair next to her. EMPEROR, via transmission: I’M GONNA BE KILLED, DAMMIT! Get here! That’s an order! CAPTIN: Roger that. SKITTER GET US TO THAT SHIP, NOW. SKITTER: I can’t, Captain… PANEL 7: A big single panel splash page of space filled with M-wave blasts.
