PANEL 1: LOCATION: The Machito, on Saseet NOSH stands in the background, looking over at ORLA, with her finger to her ear getting a message in her in-ear comm. THE CAPTAIN stands next to her. ORLA: Captain, Armada Command is reminding you you’ve been summoned by The Emperor. CAPTAIN: Of course. We set sail for Tierra as soon as the airlock is fixed. PANEL 2: ORLA continues, the CAPTAIN”s back is to us, as she turns to respond. ORLA: Well ma’am… ABOUT THAT. Jinyiwei contacts have reached out privately to me, now that we’re back in range. A lot has happened, since we’ve been away. CAPTAIN: I’ve read the reports. Nearly the entire fleet has pulled back to Tierra? PANEL 3: ORAL looks concerned as the CAPTAIN is suprised. NANDO, in the background, turns around in shock. ORLA: More than that. THE GOVERNOR OF DU FU IS DEAD. Apaprently by Tesskan hands. NANDO: WHAT?!? CAPTAIN: Tesskans? PANEL 4: ORLA reads from a glass tablet. ORLA: At the command of the Emperor himself. Hhe’s also killed the First Directorate of the Jinyiwei; the new head of Inustriaglobo; the acting Governor of Dawn; three justices on the Supreme Council… …and, well, the list goes on. PANEL 5: The CAPTAIN looks over her shoulder at ORLA, who continues. CAPTAIN: Lord. He’s on quite the purge. Something must have spooked him. ORLA: It would appear to be El Puño herself. Apparently she hasn’t been seen in three weeks. PANEL 6: NOSH, with dramatic underlighting, reacts to the news. NOSH: UGGH. I am not liking this. Our Empire is sounding more and more like “Classic summary of all Russian History.” PANEL 7: Carefully, The CAPTAIN clarifies, while NOSH, hands held up and eyes dilated, explains in terror. CAPTAIN: Wait. What’s the “Classic summary of all Russian History?” NOSH: “And then… …things got worse.” ——— Want to read the full story?
