I'm Turnin' 40!
Tuesday, January 7, 2014 - 12:05 AM
Yesterday I turned 40. Forty years old. And I'm pretty excited about it, frankly. I think my 40's are going to be my best decade yet.
Later this week, I going to write up an extended essay on where things stand with my cartooning. A sort of "State of the Strips," on upcoming projects, and what I hope to do in the next five years or so. But today I just want to say thank you. Thank you for taking time out of your day to read my comic strips. Thank you also for the e-mails, and for the kind words, and for picking up a book, or for sharing it with friends. All of that is such a gift, on your part, and I take none of it for granted. Cartooning is a joy of a job, and I'm so thankful that your friendship allows me to continue. It's a craft I hope to be workin' away at in my 50's, 60's, and 70's.
In true Hobbit fashion, I wanted to give out gifts to other people on my birthday. Something to say "thank you" for all your time reading the strips. As I was thinking about my 40th, two super-appropriate-to-the-occassion Sheldon books sprang to mind: "Living Dangerously With Saturated Fats," and "Still Got It." And today, wherever you are in the world, you can snag either or both for just $5.
And do look for the longer "State of the Strips" in a few days: That'll be an fun read, I think.
But in the meantime, THANK YOU, my friends, for your gift of reading Sheldon & Drive. That's the best birthday gift I could get, this and every year.
